Mahalo,
I'm writing this edition of The Writer Gal Letter listening to The New Romantics by Taylor Swift. A Happy Women’s Day to you, Postmate! Wherever you are. Technically the whole freaking year is about you (and me) but you, with your hot mess days and your super-soft heart, and strong spine are INSPIRING to me and to all you meet because dammit, women do rule the world! (And if we don’t yet, we absolutely should :P)
Postmate, I have a confession to make. I'll get to it, but first of all, I'd like to do something I haven't done in a hot minute.
Welcome, all of you to The Writer Gal Letter - The Happy Place for all Things Aarti V Raman, romance writer*.
You might have come to my happy place from an event or social media or a group or after reading one of my book babies. So this is my official welcome to you. Come in. Stay. Have some coffee. A nap. And let's talk, shall we?
In the interest of talking, I'll first post the QOTD.
Question of the Day
Who is your favorite author and how did you come by then?
Mine is and will forever and always be Miz Nora Roberts, goddess of writing engaging and emotional romances 😍 I have a story about her that I shared in the previous NL, you can check it out if you dig into the archives section of this page.
An update: I'll be sending the second chapter of No Other Love in the next newsletter cuz of edits so you have a bit more to wait for it :)
The February Newsletter Contest is still on. All you need to do to win a $5 Amazon Gift Card is to fill out this survey. Existing participants PLEASE DO NOT participate again!
Now, onto the confession…
I think I've forgotten how to write romance
I KNOW. I KNOW. *silent gasp. THE HORROR*
I have spent the last three days trying to figure out my writing process because even Writer Gal (I know I have writer in my name 😑) stumbles and fumbles as I try and do justice to the enormous responsibility I have - Guaranteeing you a happy ever after with amazing unforgettable characters.
Uncle Ben said it right. “With great power does come great responsibility.”
And I kind of feel like mine has tarnished a bit. Maybe it's just the stress of writing Nihaal and Mili's story talking or the fact that it's been a hard February with a harder March (hospitals, doctor visits oh my)... I am severely having an attack of the doubts… if I can DO this. Do this well enuff that you'll love Nihaal and Mili like Drake and Anya and the Foes and the Geeks and the Royals and Krivi and Brandon!
Part of it stems from the idea that I've already written so many stories, what new can I bring to this one? To the next one. How do I make it fun and entertaining for me as I write it and YOU so you can't put it down?
In the end, though, I've come to this simple conclusion. I am going to tell the truest, most emotional story about two damaged, wary, headstrong people. Who don't want to love each other but won't have any choice about it.
Who have to face their personal demons and the world's prejudices while battling for their marriage and their happy ever after.
I hope it will be enough for you, Postmate. Because this is my happy place. My joy!
Here's the cover and blurb for Burn if you want to pre-order it now! AND GET A FREE COLORING PAGE with it when you do! 😊 This is a special, exclusive offer just on pre-order for this heartbreaking story I want to tell you. Don’t worry, my Kindle Unlimited mate! I’ll be sending a release day email JUST for you <3
Nihaal Bhatnagar is Formula One's newest bad boy champion. He also has a scarred childhood and the life he left behind in India. After Nihaal's bright future and his ugly past collide right in the midst of his biggest race, Nihaal has a single choice.
Go back home. To Bhatnagar Champion Stud Farm in Kolkata. To a grown-up veterinarian sister, he doesn't know anymore. To a manager who resents him. To a lawyer, Mili, who is as smart as she is fiery. And attracts him like an engine does oil.
When Nihaal's dead father backs this bad boy into a corner - Marry within two weeks or lose a billion-dollar inheritance, Nihaal bitterly makes a bold and unconventional choice. He coerces Mili, who is also the executor of the family's estate, to become his wife.
But there are secrets careening out of Bhatnagar Farm, a million-dollar Thoroughbred's fate in the balance, and the arranged marriage from hell. Nihaal's got one of two choices: Race or BURN.
Meet the Ruthless Billionaires. They are ruthless, dangerous, powerful, born of secrets, sins, and ambition. Tempting the one woman who makes them burn with dark desires in a lush and dangerous world. Hate is just another word for want and love is the ultimate chase for them.
These are the thots buzzing in my head, Postmate. As I write my way through the doubts and the noises in my head that say, nah this has been done before!
A small request: Claim currently has a few reviews less than 50 on Amazon and 100 on Goodreads. If you can rate/review it. I'd be so grateful.
Now onto some INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE news!
