Mahalo,
I’m writing this edition of The Writer Gal Letter listening to Pretty by Dagny and Astrid S. It’s a wonderfully hummable tune and basically what I listened to while finishing Raahil and Niva’s romcom office romance :D
HAPPY New Year, Postmate. Happiest of them all. I know the world outside is slowly setting itself on fire but I’d like you to remember this quote from the second-greatest wizard of all time. (The first’s Gandalf, FYI :P) Hope really does run eternal, Postmate and now, more than ever we need to hope and work towards that happy ever after.
I know, I know, I’m a little philosophical and nostalgic today and it’s because I, like lots of us, take stock of the year gone by and the year to come during these first few days of the New Year. It doesn’t help that my city has gone into proper lockdown again and movement is severely restricted. In times such as these, I turn on my light by escaping into a good book or ten!
So, one of the things I decided to do this year was - do away with New Year’s Resolutions. I am not a resolute woman, anyway.
I am an Achievements’ kind of woman. Gimme a list with a million things to do and I will spend my life ticking each and every one of them off. But, being resolved to lose ten kilos (which I have to) or read 150 books (my 2022 Goodreads Goal) lights up the bulb of resistance in my brain.
So, I simply changed the way I saw it. Losing 10 kilos is not a resolution anymore. Being fit and able to do 100 squats at a time is an achievement. Checked. OFF!
Reading 150 books (an arbit number) is a need now that I have re-discovered my inner child’s joy in escaping into ALL the books! I’m done with 8/150 and pretty kicked on my progress!
Because I took away the pressure of being a certain way and embraced the magic of being me, it also took the pressure of “performing” for the world and myself. In short, I stopped “shoulding” myself and just leaned into the power of what I could do and want to.
It is the main reason I am sending this edition of TWGL today instead of on Friday, where I’d scheduled for it. A few days’ delay is not the end of the world or my books! You love me anyway, don’t you? :)
All of which brings me to some SUPER COOL announcements and news for 2022 and BEYOND! Since I’m such a fan of lists, I’ll just list these updates out.
Starting February 2022, you’ll be getting the usual 3 TWGLs a month. Dates/Days to be announced.
One TWGL will be an exclusive serialized romance JUST for you, My Postmate. I’m excited about this one because I’ll also try and do an annotated version of the chapter I’m sending you. (Have to figure out how annotations work on the platform tho :P)
You’ll be getting a minimum of 6 new romances (five of which are Ruthless billionaires) this year. More on that later and scroll down for a glimpse of one of them!
Your Writer Gal is part of an amazing rockstar anthology releasing May 2022. And Jax and Mia are where the Ruthless Billionaires really begin. It’s the prequel to the series you never know you needed :P
Monthly. Newsletter. Giveaways.
THREE SUPER-SECRET, HOPEFULLY BADASS, INSANELY incredible updates I am so kicked about but want to finalize before I can share with you.
Is this Instagram update.
Your favorite F1 racer - Nihaal Bhatnagar - is coming March 25, 2022, to set your device and heart on FIRE! (Pun totally intended!) I also revealed Nihaal’s beloved in the post, so do check it out.
It’s Mili Iyer from CLAIM. Mili’s going to go toe-to-toe with Nihaal and make him MELT!
I swear there is a reason those words are capitalized! And I’ll share it in the next newsletter, along with Nihaal’s title and cover and those three pieces of news I’m BEYOND excited about.
Question for You
Are you a planner like me, Postmate? A list-maker, a change-maker? Or do you prefer to just take each day as it comes? Or somewhere in the middle of the two? Do write back and let me know how your start to the year has been?
As always, here is a little something for you to check out. A for-nothing event organized by the best storytellers as a New Year gift to you. Happy ever after guaranteed in these light-less times.
I’ll write in soon with more booksy and life updates and, hopefully, a link to my TED Talk in the next edition of The Writer Gal Letter.
Till then, stay safe and awesome!
Xx
